Legendary staff how long to get
Teleporting group members that use it to Karazhan. Equip: Restores 11 mana every 5 sec to party members within 30 yards. Equip: Increases your spell damage by up to and your healing by up to Use: Creates a portal, teleporting group members that use it to Karazhan.
Item Level 90 Its pretty much an wooden owl on a stick, and the cloth strip hanging off of it glows a different color for each class. Alot of people say "oo they dont look that shiney for the ultimate staves".
Well i think of it as an "old money" kind of staff. Old money doesnt need to show off and be flashy. Old money is pimp, and it knows it. Comment by Thottbot The bird on top is a raven, not an owl.
The appearance almost exactly matches how it looks in the Warcraft III cinematics, most prominently visible when Medivh appears as a raven and warns king Terenas of the plague. This is probably one of the only items that has been modeled before they even started working on WoW, explaining the not-so-legendary looks. But it would've been very odd if they changed it into something more appealing, while it has been so well visible before. Comment by Thottbot Interesting point you made beside the swearing, that is , I found it quite remarkable to find such great difference in stats.
It may be due to the fact that the mage version has yet to be found, and may still change. But when calculating the item points used it can make sense. I assumed it is multiplied by 5 the number of party members , so All added together: So the difference would be points, which seems to be equivalent to only a few stat points, or they can be attributed to the inaccuracy of the calculator.
Of course, this may be wrong: - the calculator can just suck - my assumption for the value of the party member effects is wrong - I may have misinterpreted the way the calculator should be used - etc. Bottom line is that the stats for these items may be defendable using WoW's item values. But I sure agree that is seems imbalanced. Comment by Thottbot To make everyone know So he opened the dark portal to let the orcs come to azeroth and make it less powerfuller to the coming of the legion, then when orc became good, undeads came and started to corrupt the world.
Comment by Thottbot Why actually keep the staff when you could sell it? I mean it's over 17g vendor! Think of all the darkmoon reserve!
Comment by Thottbot There seems to be a conflict. Some people want this staff to look menacing and evil with at least two different glows, maybe some spikes and acid dripping from a shark's mouth or something.
Another group finds the simplicity of design and lore behind the current model admirable. In order to do that, your primary mission is to retrieve the Heart of Flame from Ragnaros in Firelands.
However, you will also need to empower the Runestaff with Smouldering Essences. This whole process has to be done serially, as the Ragnaros -part of the quest will only trigger once you've obtained all Smouldering Essences. This somehow correlates with the quest A Feast of Souls for Shadowmourne , only this will be done by siphoning dead bosses with the Smouldering , by using the secondary effect of your staff: Siphon Essence.
It's important to mention that this can only done to the first 6 bosses. In the end, the result changes was that man "drops" got buffed, while heroic man got nerfed. Updates on the "drop"-rates are much welcome in the comments!
On Heroic, the encounter is unaffected, and the Heart of Flame is simply looted from Ragnaros afterwards. Hallegosa tells you that the ceremony of handing over the Heart of Flame , and will accompany you to meet up with Kalecgos in your faction's major city Orgrimmar or Stormwind City.
The ceremony is truly a sight to behold, and will leave a giant version of you sitting on top of Tarecgosa in the middle of your Faction Capital for a few hours. Not only that, but Blue Drake fly around the scene. Some of them can be spoken to, and explains the situation pretty nicely for those who pass by. Still, there was much rejoicing, as Dragonwrath, Tarecgosa's Rest - Guild Edition also gives the whole guild the lovely Lil' Tarecgosa as a companion. The essence of Tarecgosa shall live forever - with you.
Sadly, patch 4. Not only that, the story also did a nice tie-in with the Caverns of Time related instances happening. We have no idea what happened to Arygos, but it would seem that - even though I promised not to delve into "Twilight of the Aspects" - that his story ended there, and that the story-lines tied in together.
Never the less, you can still enjoy the bonus of heading back to Coldarra , as the phased scene from the cut-scene in Alignment still seems to remain. A very nice unique setting! Stage 1: Stage 2: Stage Comments Comment by hatman Heyo Gnub, Beautiful guide. Tons of information but laid out very very well. I think my favorite feature about the guide are the dynamic tables of contents that float on the right hand side. Even thought it takes years to scroll through the guide itself, you can click on what you think you want, and the guide takes you there.
Cheers, Hat. And I had little info about what would have to be done next, so this is a big help. Comment by Gnub Appreciate all the positive feedback - be sure to contribute with additional information if I, for some reason, missed something : I'm going to go a bit more into depth on my current step Time Grows Short in regards to drop-rates as the next update, as it's not really as bad as it looks !
I actually like what they did here, rather than the 25 or so drops from previous legendaries. Comment by Elfeaterdk Hey mate. GREAT guide. Can't be stressed enough.
One thing I'd like to know: Is it possible for multiple toons to do the quest at the same time? Comment by Rekijan As far as drop-rates go, the amount of Seething Cinder per boss-kill vary raid size and difficulty, and should be expected to fall within these numbers:. Comment by Runawaynow I think the range on your 10 man quantities of Seething Cinder are too large.
You can refer to this post which I will continue to maintain for our 10 man raid. The range I've seen reported for regular 10 man bosses is and for heroic Small data sets from the comments, but interestingly enough, the drop amounts listed by Wowhead per boss seem to match those ranges, showing amounts before jumping to 25 man quantities, which appear to range from though I am unaware of the individual difficulty ranges.
Comment by Thanks for the great guide! One question: when the staff is upgraded or traded-in , does it lose its gems and enchants? Comment by falcon Fantastic guide! Thanks so much for all your hard work. Will make it much easier for me to complete my legendary quest chain for sure! Comment by UKMuzik Although I was forced here by the author I have to admit the guide is top-notch, and leaves nothing uncovered as far as I can tell.
Well written, well laid out with everything you could want from such a guide. Will give you thanks for writing it Gnub if you give me thanks for not pulling rank and taking that first staff from you :P Seriously Awesome guide.
Comment by Sas Your guide doesn't mention the fact that you have to survive the entire encounter with Ragnaros while attempting to retrieve the Heart of Ragnaros or you fail and have to try again. That is where I've read in several locations Comment by grats mr Gnub, being the first horde with the staff on Turalyon EU!
Big gz mate - job well done :. Comment by Elfeaterdk I can imagine how you feel. Personally I don't think I'd ever been able to open the portal to Volcanus if not for your guide :. Comment by I would like to say thanks for the guide as it is helping me a lot in my quest for the legendary. Comment by Elfeaterdk Sorry to interrupt your glee again mate - but the info about dragon for in: Tarecgosa's Visage - Legendary Dragon Form should probably also be updated :.
Comment by Zaratha Thank you very much for this excellent guide, and congratulations on your staff! I'm just about to start on Seething Cinders myself, and I greatly appreciate the detailed info you've given. Comment by markdall Thanks so much for this guide! The guild and I finished this staff last night 10 man guild and your guide really made it less insane, as well as giving me well written instructions I could use to warn my guildies what needed to happen next, etc.
Hallegosa was in the cathedral area. Well done! Im usually getting on heroic, on reg. Ill update this when I start collecting souls next week for 25 man Heroic siphons.
Comment by Synit Thanks this helped med a lot figuring out all the questlines. Very well done guide :D. I have personally never seen more than 5 btw. On our 10man hc kills back in 4. Great to see you keep polishing this one off, and I think I speak for the community when I praise this as the best guide ever. Well done mate :. Comment by During our Ragnaros fight for Heart of Flame we wiped but I used Invisibility to survive and mass res.
I still had my Rage of Ragnaros buff and once we started the fight again it gave me an additional buff with its own timer. Comment by CaoimheX This is an amazing guide, Gnub. Your passion for completing this staff overflowed into the guide.
I've been intending to do this for a while, but for those who have completed it: Create a new directory in your Addons folder, call it something like Dragonwrath. In this directory create two files with contents as follows: File Dragonwrath. Comment by Sandam Love this guide Gnub Now I really want to get into this quest line Comment by falcon I am currently on the last collecting phase Smoldering Essences and have been running 10H for the past couple of weeks and it seems the drop rate that I have been getting is , not I do have a question about Heart of Flame though.
I have heard you can only loot it from Normal mode only? Comment by Lolia Hello, great guide, been following it myself, but I have been stuck on the Delegation quest while soloing. I was wondering if anyone else have had this problem? Shannox- I can't pick up the shards, boss and adds keep breaking the loot process, and they de-spawn awfully quickly.
Treants don't taunt off me for some reason too. Alysrazor - No problems, just stayed on the ground till I collected what I needed. Lord Rhyolith - I can't see any shards at all. I have my Treants taunting so I can run around while searching. Wondering if a mechanic needs to trigger first? As the Shards of Torment don't spawn while I'm Tanking. Spent 5 min just running around looking for 1 shard. Beth'tilac - I haven't tried this yet. Will update later.
But so far looks like certain classes might have more trouble doing this quest solo. Comment by Samaramon1 Great guide, really. I'm at the last part of the chain, siphoning essences, and this guide has helped me through the entire chain which was wonderful :. Comment by alliancextermina Can i solo all of this in wod? Comment by tamolis Hello Can we use the dragon's fly form without equip the staff but just have it bag? Comment by wiuu Soloing the chain is walk in the park until "Delegation" quest.
Here are some tips. Autoloot will be very useful for taking the fragments. Only the fragment looting is interruptible. You can complete the quest on any difficulty. The Windsinger must be crafted with the Arcana skill using the recipe. You will need the following ingredients to be able to craft the Life Staff:. In order to craft this, you will first need to obtain the Schematic: Windsinger. To obtain the schematic, you must loot supply caches and ancient coffers or urns in areas level 58 and above.
Follow our guide one how to find these caches below. Therefore, this should go to your most loyal and trusted raiding DPS caster of any class, one who won't quit the game or drop the guild while gathering the materials or soon after. If there are multiple loyal and trusted candidates, decide who gets the first in a mutually agreed and fair way.
Your guild can also have fun with this by having them write a five-paragraph essay or something goofy. Even in relatively friendly guilds, being inconsistent with this matter can cause a lot of headaches and drama. Avoid it by making it clear and transparent what your plans are at the start.
DO NOT choose to give it to a player who issues an ultimatum to give it first or he will leave the guild. Such childish behavior shouldn't be rewarded with a symbol of your guild's dedication. Good luck to all guilds who will be working on this.
This version doesn't seem to be the final version, as it doesn't have any nifty on-use effects befitting a legendary. Comment by Kazlehoff healers sorry, blizzard has stated specifically that its a DPS weapon.
Edit: Why the down rating? Down rating the truth doesn't make it less true. We can make this world a cleaner place, one comment at a time. Comment by Seriph Okay, quite simply healers? You guys got Val'anyr last expansion. We casters haven't had a legendary since the end of Vanilla, and we only had it for a couple months before the expansion came out, making it obsolete, and THEN it was removed from the game entirely!
Give us mages our shot in the spotlight for a little while! Comment by Nethris The most important part: How to get yours! Probably normal mode will do. This has been removed as a requirement. Instead, you must kill a Molten Lord inside Firelands trash mob to pick up the quest. A Legendary Engagement - Pick up the quest from a capital. A Wrinkle in Time - Talk to Anachronos 3. On a Wing and a Prayer - Go to Coldarra 5. Actionable Intelligence - Go talk to Kalecgos 7.
Delegation - Go to Firelands and pick up Branch of Nordrassil. This drops of a named "boss" named Volcanus the Firelord, youll need a full raid to do the encounter. To get to him, kill bosses in FL and collect stuff from them while doing it. Nordrassil's Bough - Give the bough to Kalecgos in Coldarra now. At this point, you probably receive the first stage of this staff, Branch of Nordrassil. You get around 50 from 25man bosses and around 20 from 10man. Alignment - Some more blue dwagon RP in coldarra - cutscenes galore again probably.
Kalecgos becomes the new aspect. At this point, you receive the second stage of this staff, Runestaff of Nordrassil You get extra debuff in the fight and loot Heart of Flame. Half of that on normal. Assuming less on 10man. Also, whole guild receives the minipet available for purchase. The iLvl is the same as heroic ragnaros, , after patch. Comment by Maerlim oO why crit, give haste or mastery xD.
Comment by Ok Lets recap folks. This gave pretty much every spec a legendary designed for them. So then we got: Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury - Hunter ranged weapon Now yes there were a bunch of legendaries available during the last part of the Kael'thas Sunstrider encounter in The Eye. However those could not be removed from the raid instance, and thus they don't really count. Its our turn. Comment by Cusco This staff is Blizzards way of saying "Are you sure you're not going to pick the game back up?
Comment by elionor The great staff duplicates destructive magics, and also bestows upon its wielder the ability to transform into a member of the Blue Dragonflight can you say awesome. Comment by Mormegilz Wrath of Tarecgosa - When you deal damage, you have a chance to gain the Wrath of Tarecgosa, duplicating the harmful spell. Originally Posted by Blizzard The great staff duplicates destructive magics, and also bestows upon its wielder the ability to transform into a member of the Blue Dragonflight.
Comment by Otherwise a single tick of say corruption v's a conflagrate Comment by hellomynameis Haha 2 Mages 2v2 arena with this staff would be epic Comment by For after the change, the staff used to have different stats This staff has been updated in a new build. It now has haste instead of crit, a larger amount of spellpower, int, hit and stamina. It also has the proc 'Wrath of Tarcegosa' listed and described above. Amusingly, it also has weapon dps and a 3.
Though, taohu is right - the proc from this is a bit Methinks it will either just not work on players or have a reduced effect, unless they change it.
Most of the other legendaries had procs which were not rare but were not totally gamebreaking either. In contrast, this would have to be a fairly low proc chance to be balanced in PvE, but on the other hand, it would often mean a one hit kill in PvP when it went off.
So, my guess is they will increase the proc chance, and rip people off a bit by just reducing the damage. Comment by Furydeath Looks like its not the last update blue post said, Dragonwrath, of course, has a really awesome on-use ability, and we hope that's reason enough for people to keep it around even if it's not always their equipped weapon.
Definitely something that would allow the staff to be kept well beyond Cataclysm. Comment by Furydeath You mean legendarys take time, lots of money, and lots of work? I would have never guess that i just thought we'd go buy it from a vendor for 3, VP or something. Comment by tobindax There is a respectable probability this will be best in slot until Cataclysm expansion ends, however, it is very possible it will be surpassed by epics dropped in the 13th tier.
Comment by Anyone got a clue how this will work for warlocks? Will it be worthless considering all the dots or will there be 2 of the same dot up? Comment by Deathpact can anyone confirm if this would proc with a smiting disc priest, would be quite intresting with the proc and maybe even be worth for a disc to get.
Comment by cubelord The synergy between the proc and Ele shaman Mastery has been pointed out before- but here's a question: Anyone think that it can proc off of a proc? Is this possible? Or, could it get even better and have procs from procs from procs from procs? Simply put, it has a chance to copy each tick of a DOT spell. There is no internal cooldown, since we want it to be good for warlocks and Shadow priests. Furthermore, the proc chance is adjusted favorably for pet specs that derive a significant portion of their DPS from pets.
Our goal is to tune Dragonwrath in such a way that you can give it to any caster without anticipating certain classes or specs getting a bigger benefit than others.
Comment by We will likely see the additional damage being represented by the spell Wrath of Tarecgosa. Just speculation, but I'm sure blizzard has thought about the possible exploits of talent-procs etc. Imagine a fire mage doing a single fireball, having it crit, shooting a free fireball which also crits, proccing a free, instant-pyroblast.
I'm positive Blizzard has thought this through. The additional fireball won't be a fireball at all. It will be Wrath of Tarecgosa , with inherited damage and possibly spell effects. The real question is, can duplicate spells like or? The spells with insanely high spellpower coefficients, or high synergy with other spells Combustion works wonders with a crit from pyroblast. I cannot wait to try it out. Well, I can. I'm not going to spoil this on the PTR - I want to experience first hand, with my raid group.
Comment by ThalliaGreystorm I didn't read through all of the comments, but I'm curious Disc Priests Smite and Holy Fire healing I wonder if it does proc a Smite and if we'd get that back in healing If it actually worked that way. Comment by tobindax Do the legendary fragments drop if one is not on the quest, or is not on the particular quest line point? Comment by Eekwibble Several points people seem to be missing. It would be advisable if before you post you check the details and changes that have been posted and altered here in the last 2 weeks.
There is an internal cooldown as of 4. Thank you sas It now has haste, not crit. PTR tests confirm the 'duplicate spell' is not a true copy but an extra amount of arcane damage equal to the damage of the original spell. It has a chance to copy each tick of a DOT, it doesn't automatically copy every tick or only 1 tick. It is just as good for casters that rely heavily on pets for DPS since the tuning is changed slightly for them.
Comment by For me the quest to get this staff happened after killing a mob in the Firelands. It was an automatic quest from Blizzard so there was nothing to loot to get the initial quest.
Good Luck to everyone getting their own staff! Comment by Teenka You are wrong. Living Ember is boe material for crafts. Eternal Ember is bop that also drops off bosses but only if someone has the quest. Compared to, for example, Shadowmourne, its a cheap legendary.
