Well, that's a misunderstanding, I think, of what Bunyan's trying to do, and it's also a misunderstanding of seventeenth century theology, because even though I think that Christian is now a Christian and he's a believer, he doesn't yet have assurance of his faith.

He doesn't yet fully understand all of the ramifications of what it is that has occurred. Well, it may be this evening that you've come to this series because of the interest you have in Pilgrim's Progress , but I want to ask you a question this evening.
